Limos for Learning™ Added to "Angels List"
Secretary of State Awards Program Top Honors Among Charities

Limos For Learning™ announced today that it has been selected as a member of highly-regarded Angels List.  Released annually by the South Carolina’s Secretary of State, The Angels List is the annual listing of charities that exemplify charitable work and which give almost all of their donations to a charitable cause.  The award was presented by Secretary of State Mark Hammond to Betsy Ross, founder and president of Limos For Learning™.

“This is a great honor for our organization,” said Ross.  “Our sponsors, donors, celebrities and volunteers give so much of themselves to recognize thousands of public school children for reading improvement – they are the real angels.  This reinforces our commitment to young students, parents, teachers and school administrators, all of whom work with us to ensure that today’s children understand the importance of reading in their lives.”

The Angels List, which includes charities throughout the country, region and state, is announced annually to encourage good giving and help educate donors to make better, informed decisions when they do give.

A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Limos For Learning™ began rewarding students on the road to reading excellence in 2004.  Limos For Learning™ sets criteria that allow teachers flexibility in selecting students based on effort and achievement in reaching their own reading goals.  Winning students are treated like celebrities during the Reward Day Ceremony … picked up at their school in shiny stretch limousines and whisked away to their own celebrity luncheon.  In-limo TV screens feature well-known figures such as Hootie and The Blowfish, Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell and former Clemson and NFL great Brentson Buckner congratulating and encouraging the kids on mobile video.    

Through the support of charitable donors and corporate sponsors, the program has grown from just 14 children who participated the first year to over 8,800 students across the State.  More than 5,000 additional students are already enrolled in the program for November and December of this year. Inquiries about expanding the program to other school districts and to other states are at an all-time high and will depend on the organization’s ability to attract more donors and sponsors.

“We have worked tirelessly to ensure that we make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of children so they have opportunities for better, brighter futures,” said Ross. “We have come a long way in a short period of time. We thank Secretary of State Hammond and his office for recognizing our accomplishments.”
